The DVD Collection - Frank Sinatra

SINATRA: ALL OR NOTHING AT ALL

SINATRA: All or Nothing at All is an up-close and personal examination of the life, music and career of the legendary entertainer. Told in his own words from hours of archived interviews, along with commentary from those closest to him, the documentary weaves the music and images from Sinatra's life together with rarely seen footage of Sinatra's famous 1971 "Retirement Concert" in Los Angeles. The film's narrative is shaped by Sinatra's song choices for that concert, which Gibney interprets as the singer's personal guide through his own life.

CONCERT FOR THE AMERICAS

It's 1982, Frank is 66 years old but sings and swings like in the legendary Capitol days...even better. He travels along a wonderful career of forty years filled with marvellous melodies and huge worldwide hits. The sound of the Buddy Rich orchestra, conducted by Vincent Falcone Jr.-an usual collaboration of the Sinatra stuff in those years is jazzy and fresh. Buddy Rich himself takes an exciting ten-minutes segment to demonstrate his artistry with the drums with his solo, a version of the WEST SIDE STORY theme THE JET SONG. Another memorable segment comes when The Chairman of The Board and the incredible guitarist Tony Mattola join to do versions of SEND IN THE CLOWNS and QUIET NIGHTS OF QUIET STARS. Recorded from high quality videotape, super quality.

SINATRA IN JAPAN: LIVE AT THE BUDOKAN HALL, TOKYO.

Celebrating Sinatra's return to Japan as a performer, after an eleven year absence. While Sinatra is no longer at his prime here (he is 70 years old here after all), he exhibits a great voice, and delivers a passionate performance. His voice is thin at times, and falters occasionally, and some passages are 'spoken' rather than sung, but as a performer, Sinatra at his worst is still far better than many performers at their very best. And this is Sinatra far from his worst! This is Sinatra ready to rumble and give it his all.

1. Introduction/Instrumental Medley 2. The Lady Is A Tramp 3. Fly Me To The Moon 4. My Way 5. I've Got You Under My Skin 6. Something 7. I Get A Kick Out Of You 8. My Kind Of Town 9. Someone To Watch Over Me
10. All Or Nothing At All 11. Mack The Knife 12. Luck Be A Lady 13. L.A. Is My Lady 14. Strangers In The Night
15. Come Rain Or Come Shine 16. Pennies From Heaven 17. One For My Baby 18. Theme From New York, New York 19. You Are There - Instrumental

SINATRA AT CARNEGIE HALL

In 1980, Frank Sinatra performed a two-week engagement at Carnegie Hall, which at the time, set a record for the venue by selling out each show in just one day. The performances followed the release of 1980's Trilogy, Sinatra's ambitious triple-album comeback that featured "The Theme from New York, New York." Sinatra mixes "Summer Me, Winter Me" from that album with his hits "I've Got the World on a String" and "I've Got You Under My Skin." This concert was recorded on June 25, 1980.
